Multinationals are companies that operate in more than one country. Because they usually have a competitive edge over several players in the markets coupled with their greater power and larger customer base they command, it is believed that they threaten the growth of local corporations. Also because their services or products are always cheaper, they kill the local industry.

Countering this thought are those that see multinationals as greatest provider of employment and providers of best and standard products and services worldwide. They believe that multinationals turn unskilled employees to become professionals through quality international training in addition to good remuneration.
